Man charged over cyclist's death in Co Monaghan

A 23-year-old man died when he was struck by a vehicle while cycling on the Carrickmacross to Castleblaney road on Tuesday evening.

A 37-YEAR-OLD man has been charged over the death of a cyclist yesterday in Co Monaghan.

A man, 23, was fatally injured when he was struck by a vehicle while cycling on the N2 Carrickmacross to Castleblaney road at around 10.15pm on Tuesday. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man arrested by gardaí in Carrickmacross is due to appear before Dundalk District Court at 11am today.

Gardaí are still appealing for anyone who travelled the Carrickmacross to Castleblaney road between 10pm and 10.30pm on Tuesday evening or who has information which could assist the investigation to contact them on 042 969 0190.
