Man to appear in court over possession of bomb-making equipment

Store Street was closed yesterday morning after the incident.

A MAN IS due to appear before a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court today as part of an ongoing operation targeting dissident republican activity.

The man, aged in his early 50s, will appear in court at at 3.45pm.

He was arrested yesterday morning in the Store Street area of Dublin city. The street was closed for a period after gardaí intercepted him carrying bomb-making equipment.

Members of the Defence Forces removed what they described as “component parts of an improvised explosive device” for examination.

The man is being detained at Irishtown garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
