The man was taken to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries.

A MAN IN his early 20s was seriously injured after he crashed while driving an electric scrambler bike in Co Clare last night.

Gardaí and emergency services responded to the single-vehicle collision at Bóthar Na Luachra in Shannon shortly after 11:30pm.

The man was taken to University Hospital Limerick with serious injuries.

The scene has been preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local traffic diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Shannon Garda Station on 061 365 900, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station.

Legislation to ban the use of scramblers in public spaces is currently under review, with the law to be named Grace’s Law after 16-year-old Grace Lynch, who died after she was hit by a scrambler bike in Finglas on 25 January.
