Gardaí are continuing to question a woman in relation to the fatal assault.

GARDAÍ ARE CONTINUING to question a woman in relation to a fatal assault in Co Tipperary over the weekend.

A 47-year-old man was found unresponsive at a house on O’Callaghan’s Lane in Carrick-on-Suir at about 11pm on Saturday night. He was later pronounced dead.

It’s understood that the man was stabbed during the incident.

The man has been named locally as Pavel Javorski.

The vicrim was a native of Ostrava, Czechia, but had been living in Carrick-on-Suir for several years.

A 24-year-old woman was arrested at the scene. She remains in custody this morning. She is also understood to be from Czechia and was known to the deceased.

Speaking yesterday evening, local Sinn Féin councillor David Dunne said he ‘’was shocked and saddened by the tragedy”.

“News only broke early this morning, so we are still digesting what happened. Our sympathies go out to the family of the man that was tragically killed,” he said.

Investigating gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have any information on the incident to contact them.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Clonmel Garda Station on 052 617 7640, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station,” a spokesperson said.
