The giant gaff in Istanbul was built in the second half of the 19th century for Zeki Pasha, a famous military leader in the Ottoman forces who also served as a minister after being appointed by Sultan Abdulhamit II, the final sultan to have control over the Ottoman Empire.
The baroque-style mansion spans 5 storeys, has its own pier and dock, and comes with a view not completely dissimilar to that of the San Francisco Bay – which may go some way to explaining why it has an asking price of €89.5 million.
