AN ONLINE LOTTO player from Mayo is Ireland’s newest multi-millionaire after winning Wednesday night’s €17 million jackpot, the third largest in the game’s history.
Mayo has now claimed both the highest (€19,060,800) and third highest (€17,008,295) jackpots in Irish history.
The winning numbers were 2, 6, 20, 22, 26, 39, with bonus 5.
Over 93,000 players won smaller prizes in the Lotto and Lotto Plus draws.
Twenty-five people matched five numbers in the main draw, receiving €1,241 each, while 63 matched four numbers plus the bonus for €124 each. The Lotto raffle also produced 84 winners of €500 each.
The prize pot only ever exceeded the €17,000 figure twice, in 2008 and 2022.
This is the seventh major Lotto win of 2025, following previous jackpots claimed in Dublin, Kerry, Kilkenny, Limerick, Louth and Waterford.
The National Lottery has confirmed that a notification and an email has been sent to the online player in Mayo. The winner is advised to make contact with the National Lottery prize claims team on 1800 666 222 or email claims@lottery.ie to arrange the collection of your prize.
Darragh O’Dwyer, National Lottery spokesperson, said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to announce that the third largest Lotto jackpot ever, an eye-watering €17,008,295, has been won by an online player in Mayo.”
“While the county might still be waiting for Sam to come home it has returned two of the 3 largest Lotto jackpot wins since 1988.”
