Two men injured in rush-hour shootings in Dublin

A 52-year-old man was found shot in the stomach on Glasnevin Avenue before a second man in his 30s was found shot in the leg a short distance away.

TWO MEN ARE understood to remain in hospital this evening after a shooting incident in Glasnevin in Dublin this morning.

A 52-year-old man was found shot in the stomach at 8.15am this morning on Glasnevin Avenue on the north side of the city before being taken to the Mater Hospital.

A short time later, a man in his 30s was found a short distance away in Hillcrest Park with gunshot wounds to his leg. He was taken to Beaumont Hospital.

Gardaí say that both incidents were connected and investigations are continuing into the circumstances of the two shootings.

A shotgun was found near the scene, which was sealed off for a technical examination.

Gardaí are asking anyone in the area at the time to contact them at Ballymun Garda Station on 01-666 4400 or call Crimestoppers on 1800 25 00 25.

The incident comes two days after the shooting dead of Dean Johnson in Clondalkin on Saturday.
