Motor Envy: The Mercedes-AMG C 43 combines grace, space and pace

The sport-oriented luxury saloon from Affalterbach.

What’s this then?

This Affalterbach beauty is the Mercedes-AMG C 43 saloon and it can be yours for a cool €89,211.

What’s so special about it?

This is the souped-up version of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class saloon. It is a luxurious executive car that has real-world capability and has serious performance credibility too. The interior is comfortable and roomy and the driving dynamics are sure to please most driving enthusiasts.

Any standout design features?

Being an AMG model the visual design features are sporty and aggressive – just look at the flared wheelarches, the huge exhausts, that cool diamond-mesh grill with chrome pins and integrated Mercedes-Benz star and the large air intakes.

The car is suitably menacing and assertive and looks great. This particular model also has large AMG specific 18-inch alloy wheels.

And what powers this Mercedes-AMG C 43?

Stuffed under the hood is a 367hp 3.0-litre V6 biturbo petrol engine mated to a nine-speed 9G-TRONIC automatic gearbox. The car features Merc’s 4Matic all-wheel drive system. These combine to give the C 43 a 0-100km/h time of just 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 249km/h.

Any particular luxurious touches?

Of course it does! This particular model is packed with optional extras including a very nice Burmester surround sound system comprising 13 high-performance loudspeakers, a 9-channel DSP amplifier and an output of 590 watts with perfectly tuned electronic and acoustic components that turn the interior into a concert hall, kind of.

There’s also a large panoramic sliding sunroof, contoured AMG performance seats, a three-spoke multifunction sports steering wheel in black nappa leather with flattened bottom section and red contrasting topstitching, brushed stainless-steel AMG sports pedals with black rubber studs

But who would drive this car?

Someone looking for a sporty yet refined car. Someone who likes to go fast but look subtle whilst doing so.
