MET ÉIREANN IS forecasting unsettled, wet and windy weather over the coming week.
Although it was a bright and crisp start with sunny spells for many today, showers in Atlantic coastal counties will spread eastward throughout the afternoon and evening.
Some of these showers will be heavy, with a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms and highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees in moderate southwest winds.
Tonight, cloud will start to build from the west early on, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle following, turning heavy at times in the southwest.
It’ll then be a dull and breezy to start to Tuesday, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle moving northeastwards.
From early afternoon on Tuesday, conditions will start to brighten up from the southwest, with scattered showers and sunny spells.
Highest temperatures of 14 to 17 degrees generally, though it’ll feel milder in Munster with highest temperatures reaching 19 or 20 degrees, with moderate to fresh southeasterly winds.
There will then be further outbreaks of rain and drizzle on Tuesday night as cloud once more builds from the west.
The rain and drizzle will continue into Wednesday morning, with scattered showers and sunny spells following from the west.
Highest temperatures Wednesday of 15 to 18 degrees, with moderate to fresh southerly winds veering westerly through the day.
On Wednesday night, scattered showers will become largely confined to Atlantic coastal counties, though turning heavy at times and it will be largely dry with clear spells developing elsewhere.
Then on Thursday, scattered showers and sunny spells will feed in from the west, turning heavy in places.
It will also feel cooler than recent days with highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees, in moderate to fresh southwesterly winds, stronger along Atlantic coasts.
Meanwhile, current indications show another breezy day of sunny spells and scattered showers on Friday, with highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees and moderate to fresh westerly winds.
Met Éireann also forecasts that it will remain unsettled over the weekend, with a spell of wet and windy weather signalled to move in.
