Motorcyclist hospitalised with life-threatening injuries after collision with van in Drogheda

The collision occurred early this morning on John Street.

A MOTORCYCLIST HAS been seriously injured following a collision with a van in Drogheda, Co Louth this morning.

The incident occurred shortly before 7.10am on John Street, Drogheda.

The motorcyclist, a man in his 40s, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The van driver, a man in his 20s, was also brought to the hospital as a precaution.

The northbound carriageway on John Street remains closed while gardaí examine the scene. Gardaí have set up diversions via Mary Street, through the Drogheda Industrial Estate, and onto Donore Road.

Gardaí have also appealed for witnesses to come forward.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Drogheda Garda Station on 041 987 4200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station,” a garda spokesperson said.

Investigations into the collision are ongoing.
