EACH WEEK, WE ask someone based in Ireland with a passion for interiors to share one photo of their favourite spot in their home.
Niamh O’Connor lives in a semi-detached house in Dublin with her husband and two children.
“My house is mostly under renovation and is currently made up of half-done rooms,” says Niamh.
“I have been taking my time deciding on certain things as I don’t want to rush into anything and make expensive mistakes.”
This week, Niamh (@mypinksemid) chatted us through her favourite spot: her kitchen.
My favourite room is definitely the kitchen, which is mostly done apart from needing art on the walls. I love the kitchen because it is so bright, especially now coming into the warmer months. It’s big enough for the kids to play around us while we make dinner, and it doesn’t feel cramped.
My favourite part is the island. I have always wanted one and the kids love to sit up at it to colour, finish homework or bake.
My inspiration was mainly Pinterest. I really wanted floor-to-ceiling cabinets. Declan from Foxhall Country Kitchens, who made the kitchen for us, was amazing at getting what I had in my head to fit the space we had.
I gave everything a quick wipe down before taking the photo and cleared a few random items that seem to always gather on the island from the kids playing.
The only thing I want to change is the colour of the range. You can barely see it in the photo. We had it in our last kitchen but it doesn’t go with the white in this kitchen, so painting it is definitely on our to-do list.
