Naval Service detain Spanish fishing vessel off Cork coast

The detention of the vessel was in relation go alleged breaches of fishing regulations.

THE NAVAL SERVICE has detained a Spanish registered fishing vessel approximately 20 nautical miles west of Mizen Head earlier today.

The detention by the naval vessel L.É. AOIFE was in relation to alleged breaches of fishing regulations.

The vessel is currently under escort by the L.É. AOIFE to Castletownbere and is expected to arrive in later this evening when the vessel will be handed over to the Gardaí.

The Naval Service has detained 20 vessels so far in 2012.
