A DUBLIN SUSHI firm has recalled certain products after traces of metal were apparently found in a batch of rice at source.
Oishii Foods, based in Smithfield on the city’s northside, have recalled certain of their products as ‘a precautionary measure# according to a release from the Food Safety Authority (FSAI).
The batches in question have use-by dates of 23 and 24 September 2015.
The rice used in creating the batch was found ‘to contain tiny metal particles’ by the supplier in question.
No other batches are affected by the recall
Speaking to TheJournal.ie Ciara Troy, managing director with Oishii, said that the move is very much a precautionary measure.
“We received notice from the supplier yesterday that metal shavings measuring 1mm in length were found to be present in that batch of rice,” she said.
Although we didn’t find any such metal ourselves we’ve withdrawn all the batch as a safety measure.
130 stores are affected by the recall. Only those products sold in Tesco have a use by date of 24 September as the products had already been dispatched to the supermarket chain before the alarm was raised.
“This was a precautionary measure taken on our part,” said Troy.
No particles were reported or complaints received by us on any of our products.
However we value our repeat custom & maintaining quality is of utmost importance to Oishii Foods.
The affected products are (approval number IE 4039 EC):
