Woman in her 80s dies after being struck by truck in Co Roscommon

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

A PEDESTRIAN IN her 80s has died after being struck by a truck in Co Roscommon.

It happened in Frenchpark at the junction of the N5 and R361 at around 4:45pm yesterday.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has since been removed to the mortuary at University Hospital Galway, where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

There were no other injuries reported.

A technical examination has since been conducted by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has reopened to traffic.

Gardaí meanwhile are appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward.

Any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and were travelling in the area between 4:30pm and 5:00pm are asked to make this footage available.
