Would you support a nationwide petrol station price watch system?

A Fianna Fáil TD’s suggestion to do so comes as prices at the pump have risen in response to the war in Iran.

A FIANNA FÁIL TD has suggested Ireland implement a ‘PumpWatch’ national public database that would record the prices of fuel at each of Ireland’s forecourts.

Dublin-Rathdown TD Shay Brennan said this system would allow Irish motorists to find where they can get the cheapest tank of fuel without driving between filling stations to compare prices per litre.

His suggestion comes as prices at the pump have risen in response to the war in Iran.

“When drivers can see prices clearly and in real time, competition between forecourts becomes much more transparent and those competitive pressures should temper optimistic price rises,” he said.

So today we’re asking you: Would you support a nationwide petrol station price watch system?
