Poll: Do you welcome the appointment of Nóirín O'Sullivan as Garda Commissioner?

There were mixed views on the news yesterday – how do you feel about it?

THE ANNOUNCEMENT THAT Nóirín O’Sullivan has been appointed Garda Commissioner was met with a mixed response yesterday.

Most politicians and even garda representative associations welcomed the appointment of an insider. However critics of the force and those generally calling for reform claimed meaningful change is not likely, now that the prospect of bringing in someone with a fresh perspective is off the table.
