A POSTMORTEM EXAMINATION will today be carried out on the body of a young man discovered in a Kerry bog yesterday.
Two men were arrested on Sunday following the discovery of the remains during a planned search of an area of bog at Ballylongford, about five miles north of Listowel.
It was understood that the search was carried out as part of investigation into the whereabouts of a Brazilian man who has been missing from Gort in Galway for a number of weeks.
One man aged in his 20s was arrested and detained at Listowel Garda Station under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, while a 19-year-old man was held at Tralee Garda Station.
Dr Margaret Bolster from the State Pathologist’s Office will carry out examinations on the man’s remains today, while the Garda Technical Bureau continues to investigate the scene, which remained intact overnight.
