One-page pro-life ad calls for 'prayers for the protection of the unborn'

The ad was taken out in the Irish News today and comes just under a week after it was announced that Belfast will soon have a private abortion clinic.

A ONE-PAGE ad has been taken out in the Irish News calling for people to pray for the protection of the unborn in Ireland.

The ad in the Northern Irish newspaper comes almost a week after Marie Stopes announced it is setting up the first private abortion and sexual health clinic on the island of Ireland in Belfast.

The ad mentions three different groups as ‘useful contacts’: the Irish Society for Christian Civilisation, which is based in Swords, Co Dublin; Marion’s Net International, which offers rosaries online; and the Holy Angels magazine, which is a Catholic magazine covering topics related to the Holy Angels.

It calls on people to “please join us in prayers for the protection of our unborn. 54-day Rosary Novena. Tues 16th October – Sat 8th December 2012. (16th Oct start 27 days in petition/12th Nov start 27 days in thanksgiving)”.

Many people have already pledged to pray this novena for the intention of keeping Ireland pro-life. The prayers are being prayed in homes, schools and prayer groups across the country.

There is one daily prayer for the protection for the unborn, along with suggestions for further prayers:

Last week, the Catholic Church began a new anti-abortion campaign and month of prayer, Choose Life. As part of the Choose Life event, homily notespastoral messagesprayers and parish newsletter notices have been provided to the 1,360 parishes around the country.

The ad in the Irish News does not state that it is connected with the Choose Life event.
