Christmas shopping in the West? Bring your brolly

A yellow warning has been issued for

PLANNING SOME LAST minute shopping today?

If you’re in the west or northwest, be prepared for some misery. Met Éireann has issued a low-status rain warning for Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Donegal and Leitrim.

The warning will remain in place for the entire day, as well as overnight Monday.

Meteorologists are expected between 30 to 50mm of rain, with the highest amounts due in mountainous areas.

It’s not great news for the rest of the country either. Except the sunny southeast, where it will stay largely dry with mild temperatures of between 10 and 12 degrees/

Other parts of Leinster and Munster, however, will see heavy and persistent rain.
