Rain on the way (again) as weekend turns wetter across the country

Two days of scattered showers are expected nationwide.

AFTER A BRIGHT start in some areas, today’s weather won’t stay dry for long.

Met Éireann has said that any early mist and fog will clear this morning, leaving a mix of sunshine and scattered showers, mainly in the west.

Cloud will then thicken from the southwest as the day goes on, bringing rain and drizzle into coastal counties by late morning.

That rain will slowly push eastwards through the afternoon and evening, with mist and hill fog at times, though the east and north should hold off on the wet weather until after dark.

Temperatures will stay mild, between 11 and 14 degrees, with light to moderate southerly winds picking up later in the west and south.

Tonight will be wet and breezy for many, but conditions should improve in the west later as rain clears.

The national forecaster has said that temperature lows of 7 to 12 degrees are expected tonight, with fresh and sometimes gusty winds easing overnight.

Tomorrow starts off damp in eastern counties, but the rain will clear early, leaving a mix of cloud, sunshine and scattered showers.

More rain could edge into Munster and south Leinster by afternoon.

Highs of 11 to 15 degrees are forecast, with lighter winds by evening.
