Bruton leads investment mission to US west coast

IDA Ireland is accompanying the Minister on his eleventh major trade or investment mission since he took office.

JOBS MINISTER RICHARD Bruton is leading a five-day investment mission to the west coast of the United States where he will meet companies that are considering investment and potential creating jobs in Ireland.

The IDA Ireland mission to Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego and Silicon Valley will focus on technology companies with a total of 20 firms – ranging from start-ups to multi-billion dollar companies – meeting with the Minister.

He is being accompanied on the five-day trip by Barry O’Leary, the chief executive of IDA Ireland, as well as other officials as they meet with companies that have combined revenues of over €290 billion and employ over 600,000 worldwide.

“Minister Bruton will also meet members of the US media to communicate the message that Ireland is open for business,” a statement from the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation said.

The trip is Bruton’s eleventh major mission concerning trade or investment since he took office in March of last year.

Earlier this month, the Central Statistics Office confirmed that Ireland’s unemployment remains at 14.8 per cent.
