Second arrest in Killorglin double-murder investigation

The 26-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of killing Jolanta Lubiene and her eight-year-old daughter Enrika.

A 26-YEAR-OLD man has been arrested by gardaí investigating the fatal stabbing of a mother and daughter in Kerry earlier this month.

He is being questioned about the fatal stabbing of 27-year-old Lithuanian native Jolanta Lubiene and her eight-year-old daughter Enrika at their Killorglin home on 15 June. He was detained shortly before 6am this morning in the Kerry town.

The suspect can be held for 24 hours at Killarney garda station under section four of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

It is the second arrest in relation to the killing, which shocked the country earlier this month. The victims were found with fatal stab wounds in their home on the afternoon of the 15 June.

Gardaí launched a manhunt and have been scouring the area near the Kerry home to find a weapon or anything that could lead them to the killer.
