Poll: Should self-employed people be entitled to Jobseeker’s Benefit?

A new survey suggests the self-employed would like more protection.

A NEW SURVEY has found that self-employed people would support having the option to pay a higher rate of PRSI in return for more benefits.

One of those benefits they cite is that of cover for unemployment.

At present, self-employed people are not entitled to Jobseeker’s Benefit. They may get the smaller Jobseeker’s Allowance but that is means tested.

Today we’re asking, Should self-employed people be entitled to Jobseeker’s Benefit?

Poll Results:

Yes (13790)
Yes, but they should pay more tax for it (3357)
No (1038)
Not sure (448)
