Slideshow: top 10 cities in the world

No Irish city made the cut, while seven of the top 10 cities to live in are located in Australia and Canada.

VANCOUVER HAS BEEN NAMED the best city to live in by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).

The EIU reviewed the quality of living conditions at 140 cities using five main categories: stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.

Overall, mid-sized cities performed better on the EIU’s index.

Just two European cities make the top ten list, which is dominated by Canadian and Australian cities. Dublin came 46th on the list, while the UK’s highest-ranking city, Manchester, came in at 42, according to the Examiner.

The highest US city on the list is Pittsburgh, which came in at number 29.

At the other end of the scale, Zimbabwean capital Harare was ranked the worst city in the world, only marginally worse of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
