Fancy.

FROM TODAY SNAPCHAT users are able to use filters that display the county they are in as Gaeilge.

Ireland is the top country for Snapchat usage based on percentage of usage by adults in each market.

The Irish-language geofilters are being launched as part of Conradh na Gaeilge’s Gaelsnap campaign that sought designs in Irish for each of the 32 counties.

Conradh na Gaeilge is a forum for the Irish-speaking community with over 200 branches. President Dr Niall Comer said:

As the biggest users of Snapchat in the world, it’s fantastic to have the geofilters as Gaeilge being rolled out for Irish users today.

Conradh na Gaeilge’s main aim is to promote the use of Irish as the standard language in Ireland.

The Snapchat geofilters in Irish will form part of this month’s BÚAGaeilge challenge, a campaign developed by Conradh na Gaeilge to provide people with monthly challenges to use more Irish in their daily lives.
