'Signs of recovery' after Snapchat, Slack and major banking apps disrupted by services outage

MAJOR APPS SUCH as Snapchat, Slack and Canva are showing “significant signs of recovery” after an outage at Amazon Web Services.

Roblox, Fortnite, and Duolingo users have also been experiencing issues, according to tracking website Down Detector.

The issues began around 8am in Ireland, or midnight Pacific Time in America.

Amazon Web Services offers infrastructure that is used by a large number of companies to run their platforms.

Thousands of customers at Lloyd’s Bank and its subsidiaries were also impacted.

Not all websites and apps are affected though. Google, for example, which has its own cloud computing platform, is working normally. Meta’s apps, which include Facebook and Instagram, also seem to be unaffected.

Amazon Web Services said on its site earlier that it was seeing “increased error rates” and delays with “multiple AWS services”.

In its latest update, it said: “The underlying DNS (Domain Name System) issue has been fully mitigated, and most AWS Service operations are succeeding normally now.

“Some requests may be throttled while we work toward full resolution.”
