Thieves use stolen digger to steal ATM before setting it on fire
The digger, not the ATM – that would be foolish.
POLICE ARE APPEALING for information after thieves stole an ATM in Armagh in the early hours of the morning.
The assailants used a digger to steal the ATM, before setting the vehicle on fire.
The incident took place in the Dobbin Road area of Portadown.
Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Wright said that police received a report that a digger was on fire shortly before 3.30am.
On being unsuccessful in their attempt to steal the ATM machine, the driver of the digger then set it alight and entered a white van containing two other males and left the scene.
The digger itself is believed to have been stolen from a building site in the Killyman Street area of Moy, Dungannon.
