There have been multiple reports of debris across different motorways.

Road authorities have warned of debris from the storm on the M8 in Co Kilkenny between Junction 3 in Rathdowney and 4 in Urlingford going southbound. Debris has also been reported on the M6/N6 between Junction 5 Tullamore and Junction 4 Tyrellpass going eastbound.

The storm caused severe flooding in Monaghan town earlier, disrupting traffic and making the roads impassable.

There are reports of flooding as motorists exit the N7 at Junction 3 for Citywest, according to Dublin City Council.

Cavan County Council has advised that a tree has fallen on the R198 near Killeshandra.

There are a number of reports of fallen trees in parts of the country, with this pretty blue car in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh one of the victims.

No injuries reported to the owner or anyone else, as per UTV reporter Sara O’Kane.

More reports of fallen trees in different parts of the country.

Cavan County Council has warned that multiple fallen trees have partially closed the L-3540 near Lisnalea, on the Galbolie Road, west of Bailieborough.

In Limerick, the council says its road crews are working on clearing a downed tree at Garrydoolis, Pallasgreen, in the east of the county.

Some travelers can expect delays as more flights have had to divert away from Dublin Airport amid the strong winds.

The airport has warned that cancellations and delays are possible throughout this afternoon.

Earlier, airlines had cancelled 12 flights at the airport.

Gusts are getting up now in Donegal, with a weather station at Malin Head, part of Met Éireann’s WOW-IE network, recorded a wind speed of 109km/h as of 4.30pm.

Gusts of up to 135km/h are forecast.

These are the Met Éireann weather warnings currently in effect:

• Status Red wind warning for Donegal
• Status Orange wind warning for Clare, Donegal and all of Connacht
• Status Yellow wind warning for the entire country

At sea, a Status Red storm warning is in effect from Loop Head to Rossan Point to Fair Head, a Status Orange storm warning from Valentia to Erris Head to Fair Head, and a Status Yellow gale warning for the entire coast and on the Irish Sea.

Additionally, the UK Met Office has issued the following warnings:

• Amber wind warning for Antrim, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry
• Yellow wind warning Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry
• Yellow rain warning for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone, Derry

There has been some disruption to train journey times during the Friday rush home.

Irish Rail has said on social media that its 3.05pm Sligo-Connolly Station journey that departed Carrick on Shannon is at least 23 minutes delayed due to a branch on the line.

Delays can be expected for motorists in Co Tyrone after a tree has collapsed across much of the M1.

It’s being reported that Junction 14, Tamnamore, near Dungannon is closed in both directions while road crews respond.

A man has been seriously injured in what is understood to be a weather-related incident in Donegal.

Gardaí and emergency services are at scene of the incident in Letterkenny, which occurred around 4.15pm.

As of 5.15pm, around 184,000 homes, farms and businesses are without power,  according to ESB Networks.

The blackouts are especially a problem Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Leitrim, Cavan and Donegal.

“Crews will continue the restoration work for as long as possible this evening, but it is likely that the majority of customers will not have their power restored tonight due to the hazardous weather conditions and accessibility challenges,” an ESB Networks statement said.

Neary 60 flights have been cancelled at Dublin Airport due to the storm.

A total of 58 flights have been cancelled as of 5pm, while another nine inbound flights were diverted to other airports.

As well as the cancellations, many other flights are experiencing delays.

In Donegal, the Status Red wind warning has lifted as of 6pm, but it remains under a Status Orange warning alongside Clare and all of Connacht.

Bad news for rail commuters this evening as Storm Amy continues to cause widespread disruption.

Iarnród Éireann has warned that DART services are facing delays of more than 15 minutes, with significant hold-ups also reported on the Maynooth line due to fallen trees.

The northern line is also affected, and some service cancellations are expected across the network.

In Northern Ireland, rail operator Translink has suspended all services between Dublin and Belfast following multiple reports of trees down on the tracks.

Around 50,000 homes are without power in Northern Ireland after Storm Amy, and NIE Networks says that number could rise.

Staff are working across the region to fix the damage.

A number of towns are currently experiencing flooding, including Monaghan.

Local authorities are urging drivers to avoid unnecessary journeys to and through the town, where a number of roads are waterlogged.

These were the scenes at Salthill’s diving board earlier today as the Status Orange wind warning came into effect.

The RNLI and the Irish Coast Guard are reminding the public to stay cautious around coastlines, cliffs and waterways for the duration of the storm.

People are urged to avoid exposed areas, check forecasts and tide times, and keep a charged phone with them if travelling near the water.

A man has died following a storm-related incident in Co Donegal.

The incident occurred while Donegal was under a Status Red wind warning, according to gardaí.

There’s currently just three counties still under Status Orange weather warnings – Sligo, Leitrim, and Donegal.

These warning will be in effect until 10pm.

The entire country is under a Status Yellow wind warning which concludes at midnight.

MET ÉIREANN HAS issued a Status Orange wind warning for counties Donegal, Leitrim and Sligo from 4am until 8am tomorrow morning as Storm Amy continues.

The forecaster is warning that near gale force westerly winds could cause further damage to structures, power lines, and possible outages in these counties overnight. 

Met Éireann is warning that travelling conditions in the three counties will be very poor, and that there will be possible wave overtopping in coastal areas. 

It’s worth noting that ESB is showing an estimated repair time of 5pm tomorrow for most outages, though it is likely that many will see their power restored before then.
