Unwell student found dead in IT Sligo apartment

Gardaí are not treating the death as suspicious.

JAMIE SHAW DIED at his apartment in Sligo yesterday after he had been unwell for the past few days.

The 23-year-old from Belfast was a first-year Performing Arts student.

In a statement, IT Sligo said, “The staff and students of IT Sligo extend sincerest condolences to the Shaw family at this desperately sad time.

It’s understood that Shaw was discovered by his flatmate at around 4pm on Monday.

The IT says that it’s making its counselling and support services available to Jamie’s family, flatmate, classmates and friends.

Gardaí are not treating the death as suspicious.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been announced.
