Teenager killed after crash between car and e-bike in Waterford

The 18-year-old was taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment, where he has since died.

A TEENAGER WHO was seriously injured in a crash between a car and an e-bike in Waterford city has died.

The crash happened on the Cork Road at around 7.45pm last night. 

The cyclist, an 18-year-old man, was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of serious injuries, where he has since died.

The local Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

Gardaí said the motorist, an adult male, was assessed at the scene but did not require hospital treatment.

The road is currently closed with diversions in place. 

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300, or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

Any road users with camera footage, including motorists with dash-cam footage from the area at the time, are asked to provide it to investigating Gardaí.
