Tesco Mobile says network is back for 'majority of customers'

But it warned that a “small number of customers” might still be blocked from using calls, texts and internet services.

Updated at 10.55pm

A NETWORK OUTAGE at Tesco Mobile has left customers without data services, calls or text services for most of the day.

Tesco Mobile confirmed that damage to the fibre optic network has caused the outage, but has claimed that services have now resumed for the “majority of its customers”.

A small number of customers may still experience some intermittent issues in the coming hours as the network restores to full capacity. We’re really sorry for the inconvenience caused and thank customers for their continued patience.

In an earlier statement to TheJournal.ie, Tesco said that “third party damage to the fibre optic network for Three Ireland”, who supply network services to Tesco Mobile and other operators, led to intermittent disruption of voice calls and text message services for some customers.
Difficulties have been reported in areas all around the country, including Cork, Laois, Sligo and Dublin.
Customers have said that very little information has been offered to those affected, and only very basic information has been given out through social media for the majority of the day.

Tesco Mobile customers have said that they’re angry with the lack of customer service.

Although the company had claimed that internet data services had returned earlier in the day, some customers have disputed this claim and say they still don’t have access to internet, calls or texts.

On Twitter, Tesco Mobile claimed that ”call and SMS services affected” but “data services are now functioning as normal”.
“We will continue to share updates on tescomobile.ie and via social media channels to keep customers updated,” it said.
