1. #FOUND The sister of the actor Gerry McCann, who had been missing, confirmed that his body had been found on Dollymount Beach yesterday. Helene O’Cleary told RTÉ’s Liveline that her brother was “a beautiful person, inside and out”.

2. #RADIOACTIVE, MAN Gardaí issued an appeal after radioactive material was stolen from a house in Swords, Co Dublin. The highly dangerous lightning protectors are stored in a red metal box. Anyone in contact with the material will exceed safe radiation doses “within hours”, says the Radiological Protection Institute of Ireland.

3. #GERRY ADAMS The Sinn Féin leader today declined to answer questions about what and when he knew about his brother. Liam Adams was yesterday found guilty of raping and sexually abusing his daughter. Adams said that he has “said what I need to say”.

4. #LIVE REGISTER The number of people on the Live Register fell slightly, according to new figures. The Central Statistics Office recorded a decrease of 26,600 people signing on, based on month-on-month figures.

5. #RESIGNATION It was confirmed that Father Kevin Doran had resigned from the board of the Mater Hospital. Doran said that he cannot reconcile his own conscience with the carrying out of abortions at the hospital. Doran said that he feels a Catholic hospital “has to bear witness”.
