HERE ARE THE things you need to know as we round off the day in three easy steps.

THINGS WE LEARNED

#AMBULANCE A TD has said he is ‘shocked and outraged’ at the news that a mother had to drive a paramedic and her daughter to the hospital when her daughter took ill, as there were no other paramedics working in Letterkenny at that time. Sinn Féin Deputy Pearse Doherty has asked the HSE to put guidelines in place to ensure such an incident never occurs again.

#SKIMMING Travellers on Irish Rail and DART services are being warned that criminals have skimmed the credit cards of some passengers who bought tickets using ticket machines at Booterstown and Dun Laoghaire. The Gardaí are now warning people to be vigilant and cover their card pin numbers when using the machines.

#ABORTION TV3 is to broadcast an abortion debate with Vincent Browne tomorrow night. On the side for legislating for the X Case are Dearbhail McDonald of the Irish Independent, and Senator Ivana Bacik, while on the side for not legislating for the X Case are Breda O’Brien of the Iona Institute/Irish Times and William Binchy from Trinity College. Meanwhile, Taoiseach Enda Kenny has said that Fine Gael TDs won’t be getting a free vote on the issue of abortion.

#EUROZONE Eurozone finance ministers met today for the third time in two weeks to discuss Greece’s debt mountain and how to avoid bankruptcy for the country. Greece has been waiting since June for a loan instalment of €31.2 billion. News of a decision has not yet been made.

#DUNNES STORES An application to wind up Dunnes Stores will be heard in the Commercial Court on 14 December, amidst reports that this is due to an unpaid debt.  The chain, which employs 18,000 people, has already been told by the High Court to settle the debt.

#COURT District Court judge Heather Perrin is to resign, RTÉ reports. Judge Perrin was found guilty last week of deception after inducing an elderly client to leave half of his estate to her two children.
