The next Taoiseach was joined by Michael Ring in being elected on the first count in Mayo.

THE PROSPECTIVE TAOISEACH Enda Kenny has been re-elected in his constituency of Mayo exceeding the quota by over 5,000 votes.

The current Fine Gael leader was not present at the count as he departed for Dublin where he is to hold a press conference later tonight as he prepares to lead the country.

His party colleague Michael Ring was also elected for Fine Gael on the first count with party colleagues Michelle Mulherin and John O’Mahoney  set to join them in the next Dáil after the next counts.

Fianna Fáil’s Dara Calleary is also expected to take the final seat in the constituency.
