Three arrested over Rathfarnham cash-in-transit robbery

An armed raider escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash from a security van at a Dublin shopping centre earlier this afternoon.

THREE PEOPLE HAVE been arrested in connection with the robbery of a cash-in-transit van in Rathfarnham earlier today.

A single armed raider escaped with an undisclosed sum of cash from a security van at a Dublin shopping centre this afternoon.

Gardaí say that a lone raider approached the G4S security van in the car park of Rathfarnham Shopping Centre on Butterfield Avenue at around 12.45pm and escaped with the cash box.

The man then made his escape in a red Skoda Octavia car driven by second male, which was later found on fire at Springfield Ave in Templegoue.

No shots were fired and no-one was injured in the incident.

In a follow up operation, two men and one woman – all aged in their late 30s to early 40s – were arrested in the Ballyfermot area of the city. They are currently being detained at Terenure and Rathmines Garda Stations under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
