The toys getting eclipsed by Lillypad. Disney

Trailer for new Toy Story film shows the toys fearing redundancy due to electronic tablet

It’s due in cinemas on 19 June.

THE TRAILER FOR the latest Toy Story film has been released and it promises that most topical of enemies: a tablet device.

Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Jessie and the rest of the toys find themselves battling against an innocent appearing electronic tablet device called Lillypad, who has comfortably won the attention of their child owner Bonnie.

It’s not the first time the toys have had to adapt to the habits of a changing world and the tastes of children, but the fifth installment of the long-running series promises to have them navigate that most modern of rivals.

Returning to the voice cast for the Disney and Pixar film are famous names like Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen for Buzz and Joan Cusack as Jessie.

First released in 1996, the original animation was the first entirely computer-animated feature-length film and helped to launch Pixar as a studio.

Toy Story 5 is skipping the streaming services for its launch and will be in cinemas nationwide here on 19 June.
