What we know

Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson are back for the latest Captain America installment, which sees a rift occurring between Captain America and Iron Man.

What the critics say

  • “Chris Evans’s relative lack of charisma is still a (minor) problem. He gets upstaged by Downey, and almost everyone else. But not by much. It’s a huge aspartame rush of a film: a giant irresistible snack, not nutritious, but very tasty.” - The Guardian
  • “Bringing together tremendous character dynamics; bold structure; an emotional narrative earned after years of story work; and spell-binding, fun action sequences, it’s everything a blockbuster should be.” - Cinema Blend

What we know

Jake Gyllenhaal plays a banker whose life starts to unravel after he loses his wife in a car crash. He starts writing complaint letters to a company, which quickly turn personal. Then he meets Karen (Naomi Watts)… and you can guess what happens next.

What the critics say

  • “Somehow, amid this erratic roller-coaster of behavior, Gyllenhaal grounds Davis’ wildly unraveling psyche, finding both humor and heart in a man who admits to having spent the past 10 to 12 years incapable of feeling.” - Variety
  • “Having spent so much time and energy taking apart Davis’ materialism and sense of emptiness—and having traded his toolbox for a bulldozer, both figuratively and very, very literally—the movie can’t seem to figure out how to make heads or tails of the pieces or how they could fit into a moment of catharsis.” - AV Club
