TWO MEN are appearing in Dublin District Court this afternoon in connection with a drugs raid on Thursday, when a significant amount of cannabis resin was recovered from a business premises in Slane in Co Meath.
Between 100kg and 150kg of the drug was seized in the raid, when the two men – aged 44 and 42 – were arrested. The drugs seized had an estimated street value of between €750,000 and €1m.
Both men were detained at Kells Garda Station following the raid, which was led by officers from the Garda National Drugs Unit, assisted by the Organised Crime Unit, the Customs Service and local officers from Meath and Louth.
A third man was arrested in connection with the raid last night, and he remains in custody at Navan Garda Station.
All three of the men had been held under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
