TWO MEN HAVE been charged to court in the North in connection with the discovery of a suspected explosive device in Co Louth last year.

Detectives from the PSNI’s Terrorism Investigation Unit arrested two men, aged 44 and 49, in Fermanagh and Dungannon, Co Tyrone last night under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

They were taken to the serious crime suite at Musgrave Police Station in Belfast for questioning.

The suspected improvised explosive device was discovered in the Ravensdale area of Co Louth on 9 June 2024.

The two men have since been charged with preparation of a terrorist act and are due to appear via video link at Strabane Magistrates’ Court tomorrow.

Last year, detectives charged two separate men, both aged 44, in connection with the investigation.

The PSNI said its officers continue to work alongside colleagues in An Garda Síochána.

They said they are “grateful for the support of local communities” and encouraged anyone with information or concerns in relation to the investigation to contact them on 101 or online.
