Man appears in Carlow court over drug seizure

Gardaí say that up to €2.1m in drugs were discovered during searches yesterday and today.

ONE MAN HAS appeared in court this evening charged in connection with drug seizures in Naas and Carlow.

The 47-year-old appeared at a special sitting of Carlow District Court at 7.30pm in connection with the seizure, which is believed to have had a total value of around €2.1 million.

Gardaí had arrested two men aged 35 and 47 under the Misuse of Drugs Act following the search which took place as part of an ongoing operation.

Gardaí from the National Drugs Unit, and Naas, Carlow, and Pearse Street garda stations carried out searches in Naas, Co Kildare yesterday and today in which cannabis was discovered.

During follow-up searches in Naas and Carlow, quantities of cannabis resin and herb were discovered.
