Two men arrested over armed robbery at Clonalvy Post Office, Meath

The masked men threatened staff with a knife and demanded cash but then dropped the cash as they were making their getaway yesterday.

TWO MEN, BOTH in their 20s, have been arrested in connection with an investigation into an armed robbery at Clonalvy Post Office yesterday morning at around 9.40am.

Two masked men entered the Post Office on Wednesday and threatened staff with a knife. They demanded cash and fled the shop with an undisclosed amount of money, but as they were leaving they dropped the cash.

Getaway

They attempted to make their getaway in a car which was parked outside, however, both raiders left on foot. It is believed that both men then stole a car but abandoned it a short time later.

Garda units assisted by garda air support immediately searched the area and arrested two men who are currently being detained at Ashbourne Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Investigations are continuing.
