BY DAY BENEDICT Garrett was a teacher at Beal High School in Surrey, but outside of his life as an educator he went by the name Johnny Anglais, a stripper and owner of a soft porn website.
Garett is currently the subject of a disciplinary hearing in Birmingham, which could see him struck off the teaching register.
The 31-year-old had been investigated in 2009 over allegations he had contacted students via text messages and social media, reports the Telegraph. He was given a final warning by the school, where he was a sex education teacher, and in March of 2010 he gave his notice and said he would leave at the end of the year.
However he was suspended in June 2010.
It had emerged that he was working as a stripper and had a website that featured images of him in uniforms and bondage gear. Students had said that they’d seen him in trailer for an adult film channel on Facebook. He also presents a “topical talk and debate show” called the Johnny Anglais show and describes himself as a teacher-turned-adult-entertainer.
His Facebook page features pictures of him posing in underwear and performing in strip shows.
The General Teaching Council has said that his actions have brought the school into disrepute, while Garrett has argued that he should be allowed to have a private life. The hearing is continuing in Bermingham.
