Man and teen arrested over 'mistaken identity' murder of Edward Nugent

The 64-year-old was shot dead at his home last month.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE been arrested over the murder of Edward Nugent in what is believed to have been a case of mistaken identity.

The 64-year-old father and grandfather was gunned down at his home at Harty Avenue in Walkinstown, Dublin, on the night of 16 February. Early indications were that Nugent had not been the intended target of the attack.

Today, gardaí confirmed that two males were arrested in connection with the man’s murder at 6.30am. One man is in his late 20s and the other is a juvenile. They are being held at Crumlin and Sundrive Road Garda Stations.

As part of the investigation, gardaí had sought the public’s help tracing the movements of a car that was found burnt out close to the scene after the shooting. It had been stolen from the Kilmainham area that evening.
