WandaVision, the first series from Marvel Studios streaming exclusively on Disney +, is sure to be different to anything you’ve seen before.

The nine-part series, created by Jac Schaeffer, sees Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprise their roles as Marvel Comics characters Wanda Maximoff and Vision.

Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the events of Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision follows the newlyweds’ struggles and learnings as the two super-powered beings come to terms with living idealised suburban lives.

As decades pass throughout the series and the pair adapt to changing lifestyles, the witch and android find themselves realising that everything is not as it seems.

The series is a blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and even changes from black and white to full colour) making for one for the studio’s most unique productions to date.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Schaeffer said the show is “a love letter to the golden age of television.”

“We’re paying tribute and honouring all of these incredible shows and people who came before us, [but] we’re also trying to blaze new territory.”

You don’t need to have seen past Marvel Studios films to enjoy or understand WandaVision but, if you have, the inclusion of clever details throughout are sure to entertain.

“If you haven’t seen any of them and just want to step into this weird thing because you love The Dick Van Dyke Show, it’s going to work,” said Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. “But if you’ve been tracking the 23 movies we’ve made and following along the stories into Phase 4, there’ll be a wealth of rewards waiting for you as it all unfolds.”
