THE WEATHER IS set to remain relatively chilly and unsettled this week but turn milder towards the weekend.
Met Éireann has said patches of mist and fog will clear this morning and that it will be dry in many areas with some bright sunny spells.
Clouds and rain will move up across the country from the southwest throughout the day, with some heavy rainfall at times.
The forecaster said it will stay dry in Ulster and north Leinster for much of the day.
Highest temperatures today are expected to range from 11 to 15 degrees in mainly light to moderate southerly or variable breezes.
The rain will clear northeastwards through the first half of tonight, with some dry spells to follow, but some showers and at times heavy rain will come from the southwest.
Tonight will be milder than previous nights, with temperatures not falling below 8 to 11 degrees.
The outlook for the rest of the week shows more of the same, with some showers or longer spells of rain at times.
There is some good news though, as the weather is expected to gradually become warmer, with the likelihood of drier settled weather on the weekend.
