IT’S SET TO be a wet and thundery evening with a weather warning in place for 21 counties across the island of Ireland. 

A Status Yellow thunderstorm warning is currently in place for Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, Cavan, Monaghan, Clare, Limerick, Tipperary and all of Connacht

This warning will remain in place until 10pm today. 

Met Éireann has warned that heavy showers and thunderstorms are likely, leading to possible spot flooding, poor visibility and difficult travelling conditions. 

The UK’s Met Office also issued a Yellow thunderstorm warning for the six counties in Northern Ireland. This warning was lifted at 8pm. 

Looking at the general forecast, Met Éireann says rain showers will mostly die off overnight, but will possibly linger near the south and west coasts. 

Tomorrow is forecast to be a cloudy and showery day, with showers becoming heavy and thunderstorms developing in the afternoon and evening. 

Highest temperatures tomorrow will range between 18 and 21 degrees. 

Tomorrow night will see showers become more isolated with drier and clearer conditions developing. 

Wednesday is due to see sunny spells and scattered showers. Met Éireann says the best of any sunshine will break out later in the day. 

Highest temperatures on Wednesday will range between 18 and 22 degrees.
