Wind warning issued for all of Ireland from tomorrow night as snow on the way later this week

Some counties will be under a wind warning from 6pm this evening, while the country could see some snow from Thursday night.

A STATUS YELLOW wind warning has been issued for all of Ireland as Met Éireann forecasts possible snow later in the week.

The wind warning will come into place at 12am Thursday and expire at 6pm. Meanwhile, a wind warning for Donegal, Galway and Mayo, will be in place from 6pm this evening until 5am tomorrow.

The national forecaster has warned that strong and gusty southwesterly winds may cause difficult travelling conditions, debris or loose objects displaced and some fallen branches or trees.

Met Éireann is forecasting a return of colder conditions later this week, with the possibility of snow from Thursday night when temperatures dip to 0 to 4 degrees.

Friday is also looking chilly with more chance of sleet and snow and highest temperatures of just 5 to 8 degrees.

Milder conditions are set to return on Saturday with highs of 8 to 11 degrees. 

There’s a marine warning for parts of the west coast which are also under a Status Yellow gale warning.

From 6pm this evening until 1am tomorrow morning there is a gale warning from Slyne Head to Rossan Point to Fair Head where southwesterly winds will reach gale force 8 at times 

All coasts are under a small craft warning from 6pm today to 9am tomorrow.

According to Met Éireann the rest of the country can expect cloudy and drizzly conditions today before more rain this evening, with highest temperatures of 9 to 13 degrees.

Tonight is set to bring clearer conditions with some scattered showers and temperatures dropping to 3 to 7 degrees.

It’s good news on the weather front for those not under the wind warning with Met Éireann forecasting a return to dry conditions and even some spells of sunshine.
