That baby’s weight isn’t that unusual. When I had my ten pound son over 20 years ago the women in the bed next to me had a 15 lb 2 oz boy and there was another women on the local paper who had another 15 pounder a few years ago. Apparently better nutrition means we are growing bigger babies.

Hmmm… I read it was because women let loose and binge eat junk food thinking they can and its acceptable as they are going to fat anyway.

To have a healthy baby they ‘should’ gain no more than 30lbs during pregnancy and only need to Consume an extra 3-400 calories but often eat 3 or 4 times that.

Can be true, though not always as simple as that Drew. – there is also a genetic component, taller/larger built people end up having larger babies. Both my kids were big babies because we are both tall people.

Well.I guess you read something that was wrong and suited your bias Drew. As we all see here how you love to have a go at women on a regular basis on here. This was the master of the Coombe hospital speaking a few years ago.. She was talking about the general trend upwards over the kart few decades in birth weights in Ireland and the Western world. There is in her view a direct link in better nutrition and bigger babies. In general we are growing bigger babies. So while you love to blame everything on fatties females and females in general it doesn’t actually mean it’s fact. I am also sure women font need you telling them what amount of weight they should or should not gain during pregnancy. Women are usually incredibly well informed about such things. If there are women who eat junk food or even smoke during pregnancy they are not representative of all women no matter how much you would like them to be

And don’t forget Drew, your 50%. You should endeavour that your little swimmers are in top condition too. No late nights, long hours, boozy nights out with the boys, good physical condition. We wouldn’t want any tight pants overheating or squeezing the storage tanks

I completely disagree Drew . I started my pregnancy 9 stone 3 pounds . At 40 weeks I weighed 10 stone 4 ( well below the 30 pounds you mentioned) . I gave birth to a 9.5 lb boy. Go figure!
