Woman (80s) dies following two-car collision in Co Clare

Two women aged in their 50s were taken to University Hospital Limerick to be treated for serious injuries.

A WOMAN IN her 80s has died, and two other women have been seriously injured after a two-car collision in Co Clare. 

The collision happened on the R352 near the townland of Moymore in Tulla at around 3.30pm on Monday. 

The woman in her 80s, who was a passenger in one of the cars, was taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment of serious injuries. She was pronounced dead early on Tuesday morning.

A family liaison officer has been appointed to her family.

The two drivers of the cars, both women aged in their 50s, were seriously injured and were taken to University Hospital Limerick to be treated for serious injuries.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examined the scene and the road has since reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who were travelling on the R352 near Moymore, Tulla, Co Clare between 3pm and 3.30pm and who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.

Investigations are ongoing.
