Woman (50s) in critical condition after collision involving three cars, van and truck in Mayo

The multi-vehicle collision happened shortly after 12.15pm on the N60 Castlebar to Balla road at Smuttanagh, Manulla.

A WOMAN IN her 50s is in a critical condition following a collision involving three cars, a van and an articulated truck in Co Mayo.

The collision happened this afternoon shortly after 12.15pm on the N60 Castlebar to Balla road at Smuttanagh, Manulla.

The driver of one of the cars, a woman in her 50s, was brought by ambulance to Mayo University Hospital, where her condition is described as critical.

The passenger and only other occupant of that car, a man in his 60s, was also brought to hospital as a precaution.

No other injuries were reported at the time.

A technical examination of the scene was carried out by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and the road has since fully reopened.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, from the N60 Castlebar to Balla road and Manulla area between 12pm and 1pm are asked to make this footage available.
